The Kamza Municipality deposits urban wastes at the Terkuza River. What
the river doesn’t take with its water is then burned by fires. This
situation has revolted the local residents.
They protested the environmental crime and had many environmentalists join them. This is the second time Kamza residents protest and demand an emergent intervention, but Mziu seems calm about what the municipality offers.
After several hours of negotiations, Mziu accepted to meet some protesters, but the negotiations failed once again, since Mziu considered the representative politically involved and others don’t live at the Kamza administrative unit.
Environmentalists say the damage goes beyond the borders of Kamza, and that the Municipality is currently one of the biggest polluters of waters. The Mayor says the Municipal Council has approved the project for a landfill, but it has not been implemented yet.
