The Alliance against waste import and members from the civil society
held a peaceful protest today in front of the Prime Minister’s Office,
where they asked the Albanian government to repeal the law for importing
waste materials from other countries.
The protesters stayed for 60 minutes, chanting their claims towards the government and Parliament Members. Symbol of this protest were some garbage sacks and red cards that protesters were waving in their hands.
The protest started from the Independence Monument and continued to the Rinia Park, and stopped at the Presidential Palace, where they appealed the President to not pass the law.
494 police officers supervised the march and surrounded the PM’s Office, while a cordon of female officers were standing in front of the protesters.
The protesters warned this would not be their only manifestation.
