Despite the promise that Arta Marku would stay for a short time as Prosecutor General, she entered her sixth month in this office, after being appointed with 69 votes in the middle of smoke and tension in Parliament.

Right when Adriatik Llalla’s 5-year-term had expired, the Commission of Laws opened procedures for the candidates who would run for the Prosecutor General post.

In this meeting, they said that the Prosecutor General would be on her duty for a short time. Vasilika Hysi even said that she was supposed to stay no longer than one month.

However, Marku is going to stay as long as the High Council of the Prosecution is formed.

After all these months, the candidates for the High Council of the Prosecution are still under the vetting law. This means that Arta Marku will stay longer.

Top Channel asked the PG about her strategy against corruption and organized crime. The Prosecution responded and referred to the Prosecution’s website, which has Marku’s strategy.

But the deadline of this strategy is from 2018 to 2020, while no one has said that this will be her term as provisory PG.

And that’s not all. Although Marku has limited competences as Prosecutor General, her press office doesn’t recognize this status and declares every visit of hers as a visit of the Prosecution General.
