While the opposition keeps making public accusations against the army,
saying that the military structures have been used for trafficking drug,
the Prosecutor General, Adriatic Lalla, declared that they have started
the verifications for this issue.

According to the PG, the Ministry of Defense was the first to ask him to start the investigation.

“Several Parliament Members have raised accusations regarding an alleged drug traffic through the army. They say they have facts. The Prosecution has received a request from the Minister of Defense to start investigations. We are making the preliminary verifications”, Adriatic Lalla declared.

The Prosecutor General invited Parliament Members and specialized institutions to bring the facts they claim they have, without specifying if this request was made official or if it still a public appeal.

“The Prosecution asks all Parliament Members and specialized institutions, including the Military Secret Service, the Secret Service and the General Directory of State Police, to bring any information or facts”, Llalla declared.

The PG released these declarations during the award ceremony for the best picture made by students for the campaign “I oppose corruption”.

During this ceremony, the United States Ambassador, Alexander Arvizu, declared that the bigger concern than bribing an official is that they are not held accountable.
