The Vlore Prosecutor, Ramadan Troci, asked the Directory of Prisons
explanations about the way how Shpetim Gjika was transferred from the
detention cells to a Tirana private hospital.
The request was made because there was no preliminary announcement for the Prosecution and the way how Gjika was left outside the prison. The Court left the Mayor of Vlore free and bound to report at the Court premises. The Prosecutors say they will appeal this decision and will reques that Gjika stays in prison.
The representative if the Prison Directory reacted by saying that they have followed the protocol for the transfer of detained suspects to hospital.
Gjika was arrested by request of the Vlore Prosecutor, with accusations related to the forgery of documents for the construction of a 11-store building in the city. Right after the arrest, Gjika complained about bad health conditions and was sent at the Vlore hospital, first, and then to a private hospital to Tirana, where he was treated for heart problems.
