Prosecution rejects Pollo’s lawsuit

The Prosecution of Tirana has rejected the request of Genc Pollo and
some opposition Parliament Members in the media and education
commission. Pollo’s request was to consider the memo of monitoring
services at the Parliament’s Commission as invalid.

This is the memo that requires the replacement of three members and the chairwoman of the Audiovisual Media Authority, whose mandates had been considered expired.

After the opposition Parliament Members filed a criminal report over power abuse and falsification of documents, the Prosecution has argued that no criminal act has been committed and that the memos were done in different times.

The first memo is for October 2013, and the third for March 2014, which verifies the ending of the mandate of a fourth Audiovisual Media Authority member.

The Media and Education Commission has been involved for weeks in debates between the opposition and majority members, regarding the legal value of three memos that were created in different times.

The opposition Parliament Members had asked for this matter to be reviewed by the Prosecution before holding the process for the selection of the chairwoman, and now the Prosecution has underlined that there is no legal violation, no motive for starting an investigation process, by rejecting this way all suspicions, even the legal and political ones, for the selection of the memebrs and the new AMA chairwoman.

The candidacies for the members have been filed and the Commission is reviewing any possibility to see if the applicants are within the criteria.
