A few hours after the Prosecution of Serious Crimes issued arrest orders for three former officials of the State Police, the Director of Internal Matters and Complaints Service, Eduart Merkaj, was summoned by the investigation group to give explanations about the arrest operation, which may have been compromised.

The Ministry of Interior considered the summoning of their Director at the Prosecution as a normal work report, which has apparently been done because orders have not been executed for arresting the former Vlora Chief of Police, Jaeld Cela; the former Chief of Organized Crime, Gjergj Kohila, and the former Border Control Chief, Sokol Bode.

The Interior Ministry reported that they have searched in houses and places where the above-mentioned persons could have been hiding, but they were nowhere to be found.

Jaeld Cela is suspected of favoring criminal gangs to cultivate cannabis in some villages of the area, including the Habilaj gang. After 20 years in the police, Cela was dismissed on April 28th.

Gjergj Kohila, a relative of an officer on the run, mentioned in the Treblova case, was released from duty on May 8th. He is suspected of having favoring cannabis cultivation and being part of a structured criminal group.

The former Chief of the Border Police, Sokol Bode, is suspected of being part of the same criminal group.
