Three days after the tragic accident that left two pilots killed and one
injured, the Shkoder Prosecution has started an investigation, since
there are suspicions for a violation of flight rules and for a movement
of the military personnel without a legal cause.
An official source said for Top Channel that these acts are foreseen by the criminal code, based on articles 83 and 48 of the military code. They added that as long as it remains unknown why the EC 145 helicopter had taken off from the Farka base, the suspicions of the Prosecution remain on these two criminal acts.
The exact itinerary of the helicopter is still unknown, although the Chief of the General Staff declared that the itinerary of the helicopter shows they should have taken off at 12:10, but the last contact was at 13:45.
Sources added that the Shkoder Prosecution has included in their investigations the Prosecution of Tirana, which is asked to carry out some investigative operations, such as the basic documentation at the Farka military base and to the center of contro.
The survivor Baramuca has not been questioned yet, due to his medical conditions. Although the Army reports that the helicopter had taken off based on a training schedule, it is unclear who was the main pilot and what were the causes of the crash. Prosecution says that the black box will determine the causes better.
The Minister of Defense has ordered an investigative inevstigation. Top Channel reported on the day of the accident that Eurocopter EC 145 had reported of taking off from Farka with only two pilots on board.
