10 months after the local elections in Albania, the Prosecution closed
the investigations and sent as defendants eight Dajci Commune
Commissioners, charged of power abuse and falsification of May 8th
election documents and results.
The defendants are Lulzim Paloka, Ndoc Marku, Mark Kola, Zef Gjoni, Pjeter Marku, Pal Prendi, Gentian Kovaci and Gent Marku.
Prosecutor Ervin Beqiri declared in the trial request that the candidates in the Dajci Commune were Rrok Rroku for the Alliance for the Future Coalition ( led by Socialists), and Gjergj Doci, from the Alliance for the Citizen Coalition (led by Democrats).
The winner was declared Gjergj Doci from the DP coalition, Alliance for the Citizen, while the representative of the SP coalition, Alliance for the Future, reported the voting as illegal, accusing for manipulations.
The interested subject complained at the Central Election Commission, but they rejected the complaint and approved the summary table.
The Socialist Party addressed the request to the Electoral College, but they also rejected the opposition’s request, leaving the decision in act.
The Prosecution filed a criminal case against the commissioners. The Prosecutor says that on May 8th, only 264 voters have participated, while on the list there were 300.
“Based on the expertise, there are 109 signatures made by the same people. 43 signatures could have been written by the members of the commission”, Prosecutor Beqiri declared.
The Prosecution says that the defendants, being tasked to process, assess and preserve the electoral documents, have presented irregular data on those documents, as if some votes were cast by people who in fact have not been there.
The Prosecution sheds light on a fact reported by the Socialist Party for the identity card falsification.
“They have written passport numbers and identity cards that do not exits or are not related with the citizens who result as voters at this center, and have cast ballots for people who haven’t come to vote”, the Prosecution informed.
