The Parliamentary Commission of Media and Education was withheld for the
second time by its Chairman, Genc Pollo. For more than five hours, the
Commission was unable to work with the agenda, since Pollo has
repetitively refused to use to the memo of the Parliament Speaker, Ilir
Meta, for filling the four vacancies at the Audiovisual Media Authority
(AMA).
“Simply because the law gives you the competence to block it, you should not abuse. I think that we should move on”, declared the Socialist Member of the Commission, Musa Ulqini.
“Please, Mr.Chairman. You should vote the proposition. I invite everyone to not allow the chairman to continue this theater that has been going on for five hours. He should start the voting, based on the regulation. The rest has nothing to do with the work of this Commission”, declared the vice chairman, Alfred Peza.
“The AMA issue needs an executive decision-making, and for this it should go through the conference of chairmen, as the main institution of all commissions. You should at least learn this”, Pollo declared.
The chairman of the commission has repeatedly refused to continue the work based on the agenda approved by the majority. He considered it as illegal, together with the order of the Parliament Speaker, and crossed his competences by violating the Commission’s regulation.
Pollo has turned a serious meeting into a comical and absurd theater, by playing with the Parliament Members and by wasting hours in futile discussions.
“Don’t you journalists have something else to do? I have ordered a coffee”, Pollo declared by blocking the session.
“We have been discussing here for eight hours. Your behavior is immoral and unacceptable”, replied one of the majority members.
Only after five hours, the Commission was able to pass the agenda, although it was approved past week. With the passing of the agenda, the four vacancies at AMA can now be filled.
