The Mechanism for Preventing Torture, a structure at the Ombudsman,
published this Monday the problems identified during the monitoring of
prisons for 2014.

According to this monitoring, our prisons have an overpopulation to 40% of its capacity, and the prisoners sleep on the ground and in shifts.

The Mechanism at the Ombudsman notes that the agreements between the Health Ministry and the Justice Ministry for building a special health institution for the mentally ill prisoners has remained on paper.

The monitoring draft prepared by the Mechanism for Preventing Torture will be consulted with the civil society and the state institutions before being presented in Parliament.
