In the limit of the legal deadline, the General Prosecution sent the
investigation file to the Supreme Court against the former Minister of
Economy, Dritan Prifti, and his Deputy Minister Leonard Beqiraj, who
appear in a video by sharing a quantity of money.
The two former officials are accused of passive corruption. One month earlier, the defensive lawyers of Mr. Prifti had asked the postponement of the file, arguing that they would present additional evidence.
The video was recorded on 10 March 2010 and was made public in a television by Spartak Braho, former Socialist Movement for Integration MP and current councilor of the SMI leader, Ilir Meta. Spaho declared that the video was recorded by Prifti himself, 10 days after the Meta-Prifti registration, with the same appliances.
The two characters of the new video declared that the TV intentionally broadcasted only some parts of the video. Prifti declared that the money he was sharing with his vice were related with a private business of theirs.
After the verdict that found Ilir Meta innocent, the Supreme Court will have its second test for the corruption affair on which the prosecution bases its charges.
