Prespa polluted by wastewater

The Prespa Lake is turning into a deposit of waste materials. The lack
of sewage systems has made residents to dump their waste in the lake’s
water, despite the pollution and damage.

They fear pollution now that the village waters are all poured in the lake. “The sewage we had was broken. Now waters follow the road and go to the lake”, one of them says.

The Pustec Commune is a very nice tourist area, but now this is threatened. The sewage system has not been built due to the lack of investments and funds, which has made projects to remain on paper.

“The pollution is very problematic. There are only two villages with the sewage system. The others dump the sewage waters in the lake”, says Edmond Themelko, official of the commune.

The Prefect of Korce, Ardit Konomi, summoned in a meeting the respective authors to find a solution to the problem and not allow a further deterioration of the situation.
