In this evening’s rally, Albanian President Ilir Meta signed a decree against the law that stripped him of the power to swear in the new constitutional judges, and warned about signing the decree for dissolving parliament. He said he would do so but at a later date.
“Before signing the decree against the anti-constitutional swearing in law, I ask for your will, those of you who are for raise their hand. Death to the coup d’etat, long live the republic!”, stated Meta as the participants raised their hands.
He then added: “The people here have another demand, they are not pleased with little and desire immediately the dissolution of the putschist parliament. Please, I have to sign this decree now and I will come back here for that othet one that you cheered the most”, said the president.
