President returns law for Armed Forces

The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, returned the law of the Armed
Forces in Parliament, with the argument that it has not been drafted by
consulting him, as Chief Commander of the Army.

“Every legal initiative related to the commanding of the Armed Forces, the military career, the military status, etc, should be consulted with the Chief Commander of the Armed Forces”, the arguments of Nishani say.

“Otherwise, these actions would put in danger the chain of command, which is decisive for our country’s defense”, the President added.

“Exerting the competences that the Constitution gives in a time of peace to the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense should not overlook the function of commanding and leading the Armed Forces by the Chief of Command, the President of the Republic”, Nishani argued.
