The citizens of Bujanoc were on the streets today to meet the first Albanian President that has even visited their area.
Albanian President Bujar Nishani arrived in Bujanoc today and talked with Albanians about education, culture and economic development.
Nishani was received as their president at the Presheva Valley. He met the Albanian political leaders at the Bujanoc Municipality and stayed more than planned.
“If we talk about co-existence, mutual interests, than can be no provocation in it. If we talk about culture, education, economic development and prosperity of Albanian and Serbian citizens, I don’t think it’s a matter of conflict, but of understanding”, Nishani said.
The Albanians of the Presheva Valley were happy that the visits from Tirana are continuing. Shaip Kamberi, Mayor of Bujanoc said that they discussed about the position of Albanians at the Presheva Valley and about the possibilities of cooperation between Presheva communes and Albanian institutions.
Some media outlets considered Nishani’s visit as strange or even a provocation, but Nishani also met with the Serbian leaders and government representatives, who believe that the visit was not harmful.
Zoran Stankovic, from the Office for Southern Serbia, said that he met President Nishani and that there should be nothing strange about it.
Tirana has promised to commit more actively for the Presheva Valley. President Nishani visited some villages of this area and the town of Presheva.
