President Nishani meets former political prisoners

The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, welcomed a representation of the
National Union for the Integration of former Political Prisoners and
Persecuted People of Albania. They expressed their concern against the
return of the communist symbols, such as the building of a bunker behind
the Interior Ministry.

Nishani met with the requests of the former political prisoners, who asked the President to intervene and defend their category.

The former political prisoners presented once again the need for support from the government for their cause and problems.

The President underlined that they he is following closely the constant tendencies to bring back symbols of the dictatorship, which could damage the balances of the Albanian society. Nishani added that all personal and institutional efforts will be done to address the concerns of the former political prisoners.
