The President of Albania, Bujar Nishani, gave Cardinal Ernest Simoni the order “Honor of the Country”.
In the ceremony organized for this event, the President reminded the suffering of the cardinal during the communist regime, and valued his contribution for the image of the Albanian people as a huge value.
“Cardinal Ernest Simon has been a great honor to the Albanian Catholic church, to the Catholic devotees, to Albania and all of its citizens. He has honored the Albanian identity. He has made an extraordinary service to the virtues of man, and has left behind an extraordinary and irreplaceable heritage of humanism”, President Nishani said.
Nishani also said that the Catholic church has played a key role for keeping people’s hopes up and positive.
