The president of Albania, Ilir Meta, is attending an official visit in Croatia, where he met with Albanians whose predecessors moved there centuries ago.

Meta visited the Krune Krstica school, where students can learn Albanian language.

“It was a special emotion visiting the school with the teachers and students of our beautiful language, at the place where NDre Mjeda and Gjergj Fishta have spoken Albanian, and where the Arbanas have been educated in their language”, Meta writes on his Facebook post.

Arbanas is an area in the southeastern part of the Zara peninsula, today part of the Zara city. It was created in the 18th century with the arrival of Albanians from the Shkodra Lake. They have preserved the original language, mixing it with Croatian and with the Veneto dialect.
