President Meta: “Ideas for division of Kosovo, destructive and unacceptable”

The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, received the European Council Delegation for Foreign Affairs, led by Carl Bildt, former Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Sweden.
During this meeting, Meta underlined the importance of enlarging the EU with the six Western Balkan countries. In this context, he noted that he hopes for Albania to open the EU accession negotiations the soonest possible so that Kosovo can benefit from the visa liberalization and conclude the demarcation agreement with Montenegro.
Meta considered the ideas of a possible division of the current territories as impossible, destructive and unacceptable, desperate attempts to put populist agendas over the vital EU integration agenda and stability.
For Meta, the only agenda is the solution of real problems for citizens, reestablish the rule of law and democracy in every country. “The rule of law and democracy is a priority in every country”, Meta underlined.
