President decrees discharge of Gerveni

The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, decreed the removal of Rear
Admiral Kristaq Gerveni, whose name has been involved in controversies
lately.
According to recent information, the Presidency has decided to remove Gerveni from is duty, based on article 93 of the Albanian Constitution and after the proposition made by the Ministry of Defense.
The order for removing Gerveni from power caused a conflict between the two above-mentioned institutions.
The office of the Minister of Defense, Mimi Kodheli, declared that the officer’s mandate had expired. Nishani’s office considered this action as a violation of his competences.
The Administrative Court suspended the decision for replacing Albania’s representative in the NATO, by favoring his complaint at court.
Now that his replacement was decreed by the President, the things will change. Even Gerveni asked to be appointed in another duty.
