President challenges law for properties at Constitutional Court

Two days after the Parliament rejected the presidential decree to review
the law on properties, President Nishani said he will send it to the
Constitutional Court.

The President said that the law is anti-constitutional and damages the basic principles of equality and security.

The President added that the law goes against the concept of free market economy and also opposes the Constitutional Court verdicts and the standards set by the European Court of Human Rights.

The President underlined the importance it has on citizens, and a key priority for opening the EU negotiations.

Although the President has returned several laws of the majority, he has rarely used the Constitutional Court to oppose them.
