The head of the Albanian state attended a representative group from the
National Association for the Integration of Political Persecuted People. They
presented a series of requests to the Albanian President, emphasizing
the need of a greater dedication from government institutions to former
political persecuted people.
“The Albanian President, as head of the State, guarantees the Constitution. Based on the European Council Resolution; on the fact that the institution of the President is above the political parties and based on the irresponsibility scale of the political parties, we asked the Albanian President to start the punishment of the communist crime. We do not see in any EU country high rank officials of the communist regime to be present in the democratic Parliament, as we see in Albania”, declared Besim Ndregjoni, General Secretary of this Association.
Mr. Ndregjoni presented the dissatisfaction of the politically persecuted people with property compensation, including the delays that are being made to the restitution process.
“We are very dissatisfied by the restitution, which is a legal decision. But this majority is still not responding”, Ndregjoni declared.
