The President of Albania, Bujar Nishani, addressed a speech at the UN
National Assembly this Friday, asking them to recognize Kosovo for
further improving peace and stability in the region and beyond.
“We have supported and we keep encouraging without any hesitation the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. We consider this platform as very suitable to resolve all suspended matters, so that we can start looking towards the future.
Albania will keep supporting the international recognition of Kosovo, its active role as full member in regional organizations, and the unstoppable process of joining international organizations.
This will improve the international policies of all-inclusiveness, the contribution of Kosovo in world policies and also peace, security and development in the Balkan region.
Kosovo has been recognized as a country by 109 UN members, and I am certain that many others will recognize it soon, contributing this way into improving peace and stability in Southeastern Europe and beyond”, Nishani declared.
The President of Albania underlined that international terrorism and violent extremism are among the biggest challenges our world is facing today. He underlined Albania’s involvement in the fight against extremism and the phenomenon of foreign fighters, and also for promoting ideas and programs which increase respect and inter-religious co-existence.
