The surrounding rails of the presidency changed this Saturday after
workers started removing the bars and surrounding decorations. This
change was considered absurd by Artan Shkreli and Artan Lame,
representatives of the Cultural Heritage Forum, who reacted against this
decision that removed objects with historic and monumental values.
They declared that the Directory of Culture Protection Institution and the National Council ofn Restoration and the Ministry of Culture have not been warned about this decision.
“After destroying the Palace of Brigades, this was the last building that they had not destroyed. They said the rails were damaged, but the truth is they were perfectly fine, as 60 years ago, when they were placed”, Lame declared.
“We make a big deal when commune leaders allow changes in the railings of a private home, but here we have a symbolic object removed for banal reasons”, Shkreli declared.
By comparing it with the changes that are being made at the Prime Minister’s office, Lame declared that the difference is related to the authenticity.
“The Prime Minister’s office was created without a surrounding railings, and the administration removed without permission an object that was placed without permission. While the surrounding rails of the Presidency are a destruction of that monument”, Lame declared.
Shkreli and Lame declared that the Presidency chose Saturday as a weekend, so that no one could stop them on time.
President reacts
“Government officials, speculative declarations”
The Albanian President reacted through a perss release, saying that Artan lame and Artan Shkreli are speculating.
“The two high-rank government officials, the General Director of the Agency of Legalisation Urbanisation and Integration of Informal Zone/Building and the Prime Minister’s adviser, launched speculative and unprincipled remarks against the institution and the President himself”.
The President explains in this press release that the railing had very unaesthetic and rusted bars that were damaging the building, and that the decision was made only for improving the building and opening it for foreign and local visitors.
