The Presidency reported what they called political attacks and offences of the Prime Minister against the President.

Through a press release published on the President’s website: “The Institution of the President condemns the political attacks and the vulgar offenses organized by the Prime Minister against the President. For the past two years, the President has been under a campaign of offenses, slander and threats, organized by the government leader”.

This declaration comes after the Socialist MP, Taulant Balla, read a letter of the four religious leaders in Elbasan (Muslim, Bektashi, Orthodox and Catholic). They addressed the Prime Minister and reported a decision of the Supreme Court, which decided the demolition of a church and returning the land to a family named Karaosmani, which has as descendant only the President’s wife.

The declaration says that the reason of this campaign is that the Prime Minister is being unable to control the Institution of the President.

“The low slander ordered by the Prime Minister in Parliament, as revenge of the institutional sstances of the President in defense of the Constitution and the state of Albanians, will not be able to eliminate the Head of State. Violence will not triumph over the dignity of the state. Authoritarianism will not beat the freedom and democracy that the Albania people have earned after huge sufferings and sacrifices”, the declaration says.

“The President will keep requesting a protection of the constitutional and legal rights of the institution, despite these actions that have nothing in common with the policy, culture, civility and the European method that the Albanian people want to follow”, the President declared.
