Poverty and bad weather in Dibra remote villages
12/01/2017 00:00
Remote mountainous villages are facing difficulties with this winter, which has been the coldest for a very long tie.
The area bordered with Macedonia is among the poorest in Albania, and some families have difficulties to secure steady food.
The Bala family house has very bad conditions, while both unemployed parents of the Halili family have to take care of four children, one of whom needs medical treatment.
There have been power outages during the first two days, but they can use lumber for heating.
Roads that connect these villages are also blocked. It may be easier to send food and other materials to help those residents if the border checkpoint with Macedonia will be opened.
