As the holiday season in Albania comes to a close, foreign tourists and migrants living abroad are returning to the countries where they live and work.
Authorities report that 20,209 people and 5,317 vehicles left this weekend (August 18-20) from the country’s largest seaport.
On Sunday and at dawn on Monday, five ferries left the port of Durrës with nearly 8,000 people.
The holidays are almost over, so this outflow is expected to continue in the next two weekends to give way to a normal circulation in the coming months.
In order to cope with the workload, shipping companies and border, customs and maritime authorities are continuing to work at full capacity, while on both sides of the Adriatic, including the Italian ports of Bari and Ancona, there have also been changes in ferry departure schedules.
Compared to the season a year ago, this summer the movements of foreign citizens from Durrës have increased significantly.
