Politics is blocking integration

The ambassadors of Italy, Poland and the Czech Republic attended three
different meetings in Shkoder and Korce. They commented the political
situation in Albania, and asked for more cooperation between the
political forces, and complete focus on the integration priorities.

The Czech ambassador met with the students of the European Union Center in Shkoder.

“I am aware that the European Commission is working with a report that will come out in June, for the high-rank political dialogue. As I underlined, the polarization of the society is a sign of weakness, because this phenomenon weakens the integration process and Albania’s efforts in the integration process. It is true that in every democratic country with an opposition and a majority there are diversities, but there are also areas in which they cooperate. Albania needs this cooperation. The politicians must represent the country’s interests. It is very necessary to have a strong cooperation feeling”, declared Branislava Tomasova, ambassador of the Czech Republic to Albania.

The Italian Ambassador, Massimo Gaiani, commented after a ceremony with the Minister of Culture at the Marubi Photo Gallery in Shkoder. He was asked if the protests and strikes that are being held in Tirana will have any negative consequences.

“We are waiting for a solution of everything that is happening. We favor dialogue, and both parties need to have a priority objective for Albania’s integration. Everything should be focused on this objective. It is a discussion phase. The Commission will value the technical aspects tat were discussed in the last meeting for the status, and they are the ones who will make the evaluation. The best solution is for all parties to focus their priorities on integration”, declared Massimo Gaiani, Ambassador of Italy to Albania.

The Polish ambassador visited the city of Korce, where he gave similar messages.

“We will have another cooperation possibility very soon. The European integration path is the dialogue between the European Union and Albania. We have held two meetings so far, and we hope that the next meeting will be a more important step regarding Albania’s aspirations”, declared Marek Jeziroski.
