Despite being one of the Skeptical countries as regards the EU, Poland supports opening negotiations with Albania.
“Poland supports Albania’s EU accession aspiration and I would like to congratulate Albanians for the reforms that have been implemented so far. I believe that the European Commission has valued the changes achieved by the government of Albania, and the positive decision is satisfactory for us. I also hope that the European Council will accelerate the process and negotiations that need to start”, declared the Polish PM, Beata Szydlo, in a joint press release with the PM Rama.
The Polish Prime Minister valued the role of Albania as a factor of stability in Western Balkans and Europe. For the reform, she said she is happy to share the experience of Poland from the pre-accession period.
PM Rama said that during this meeting they shared a same opinion regarding the progress report, also for the necessity that the Council needs to be clear with the ongoing process by keeping in mind that when the European Commission has issued a positive recommendation, it should be welcomed by the Council so that Albania can have the chance to prove the implementation of the justice reform by starting the Vetting as the only condition.
