The 20th day of the political prisoners’ hunger strike was characterized
by several tensions, after the police surrounded the tent.

The strikers debated with the police after they did not allow striker Agim Kollcaku to return to the tent. Kollcaku returned after receiving hospital treatment after the wounds taken while trying to put out the fire on Lirak Bejko’s body, the second striker who attempted self-immolation yesterday.

The tension within the strike continues. One of the strikers declared for Top Channel that there is no hope that Berisha will react to their requests, hence they will address to the other governing coalition. According to them, the Socialist Movement for Integration leader, Ilir Meta, must support them in this matter.

“We appeal Ilir Meta to take our matter under consideration and not misuse this painful situation. If the others have become mad, someone must come and try finding a solution. Our strike is not political, but economic”, the striker declared.

While the hunger strikers’ health situation is deteriorating, doctors say that the conditions of the two strikers who attempted self-immolation are improving.

“The second patient is still in a difficult situation, but the therapy of the last 24 hours went well. Gjergj Ndreca is in better conditions”, he declared.
