A police officer has been arrested by the Interior Inspection in
Gjirokaster, implicated in power abuse after he did not send a seized
car at the Police premises, but to another destination for profits. His
name is Lorenc Alia, worker at the Gjirokaster Traffic Police.
The inspections in Lazarat are continuing in a wide scale. The police is receiving help from an expert team of the Ministry of Defense, whose purpose is to identify the places where arms and ammunition might be hiding. They are using specialized equipment for this structure.
Alim Turabi Pasho, 50, resident of Lazarat, was arrested last night after police searched his basement and found one automatic weapons and three clips with bullets. Five meters from the building the police found 234 kilograms of cannabis.
22 people have been arrested in total for illegal possession of weapons and for cultivating drugs. Police has found in total 133,219 plants of cannabis, 42,9 tons of hashish, 8 packs of heroine, 1.3 kilogram of narcotics and three kilograms of cannabis seeds.
Five labs were found in total, two of which for processing narcotics and three for processing cannabis oil. Police also found two incubators and 27 heat lamps.
The total weapons seized so far are 142 automatic rifles, 8 handguns, 2 snipers, one anti-aircraft machine gun, 10 machine guns, three RPG-s, one mortar, four grenade launchers, 2 old rifles, 7 hunting rifles. Police also found 32 weapons that were burned: 1 sniper, 6 machine guns, 1 grenade launcher, 22 automatic weapons, 2 rifles, 86,752 bullets of various types, 229 sticks of dynamite, 137 grenades, one case of grenades, 43 grenade launcher missiles, 8 bullet clips, 150 electronic igniters, 97,3 meters of dynamite fuse, 153 bullet clips, 11 vehicles with weapons and cannabis, and 22 other vehicles.
Police found three burned vehicles, two vans and 1 car, which had cannabis inside. 15 vehicle plates were seized, eight drug pressing machines and other equipments for the processing of cannabis.
After searching 529 houses, police also found false documents and police uniforms.
