Since the announcement of the normative act for the closure of nightclubs, a large part of artists and bar staff have come out in protest, both on Monday evening and at noon today.

Their gathering was met with the police opposition and was dispersed by authorities under the government’s pandemic gatherings ban regime.

The protesters have warned that they will continue their protests until this act is repealed. According to them, this is a great damage to the country’s economy as well as to their small families.

“Our demands are the annulment of the normative act or to be paid for the time we will not play, or we will not work. I’m a guitarist, the only job I do is my music. We ask to be allowed to work. I do not understand the logic that a dayclub can not be at risk of a virus and a nightclub yes. To be left without food or to be protected from COVID ?! ”, stated one participant.

“We are looking for some kind of nightlife management in terms of work or the economy after 8 o’clock, or to have an economic package, which will justify the loss that people suffer economically.”

“We protest for our economic rights and the right to practice our profession as artists. But also the cameramen, the lighting staff, everyone working in the field of music, lounges, or restaurants. “I am a singer and I have been deprived of the right to practice my profession.”
