The RENEA and FNSH special forces have arrested four of six fugitives.
One was arrested last night, while three were arrested today at 12:45.

The fugitives opened fire against the police, but the special forces were able to neutralize the threat and arrest Admir Tafili, the main suspect for organizing the escape.

Together with him police found Fran Marashi, sentenced to life in prison, for the murder of four police officers, and Gezim Guri. Tafili was hiding in an abandoned depot in Prrenjas.

Last night police arrested Artur Goro, who was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of one police officer.

Police is still looking for three other fugitives, Gezim Ndue Toma, born in 1982 in Diber, and Reiz Namik Haxhiraj, born in 1972, resident of Selenica, Vlore; and Eduard Kujtim Lula, resident of Permet.

Manhunt for fugitives continues

Multiple police forces are still searching for the six prison breakers who escaped last night from the Drenova prison.

Searches are focused on the border with Greece and Macedonia.

The police haven’t found any trace of the fugitives, but anyway, they have kept contacts with the authorities in the neighboring countries.

All residents of the fugitives are under police surveillance, while officers are looking for people who could possibly hide them.

Police says that all collaborators in crime will face harsh punitive measures, and they have announced a phone number (1 290) for every one who might have information, but they haven’t decided yet about an award.

The six fugitives are considered armed and dangerous, and the police suspects that they might be hiding in the villages around the prison area.

Based on the evidence, the prisoners are not acting in group, but it is still unclear how they have been spread around the country.

Although one of the prisoners, Artur Gora, has been caught a few hours after escaping, the police still has received any valid information from him. He claims that he just took advantage from the situation to escape.

The only question remains how Admir Tafili was able to take a gun inside, and how he planned the escape.

The seven prisoners escaped from the Drenova High Security Prison at 19:10, this Saturday evening.

Four of them had received a life sentence, three to 15 years in prison.

The Ministry of Interior published the general information about each of them, appealing citizens to be careful, since they are all armed and dangerous.

Police has interrogated the prison guards, who are also suspected of collaboration. They say that they have no information how the prisoners got weapons. Guards say that Admir Tafili might be the one who organized the escape.

Guards also say that on the moment of escape, four of seven of the fugitives were armed with handguns.

Police found two abandoned vehicles, one belonging to the Qatrom reeve in the Ravonik village, while the second one was found near Pogradec.
