The Tirana Police warned of extreme measures against noise pollution.

Based on citizen complaints, the Chief of the Tirana Police, Ardian Cipa, authorized all of his commanders to take action and eliminate noises within 60 days.

Cipa explains that criminal charges will be filed in cooperation with the Regional Agency of Environment against all disturbance cases. The letter says the police will implement laws for all complaints after 23:00 on week days and after 24:00 on weekends.

The Chief of Police reminded his commanders of article 274 of the Criminal Code, which states: “Throwing stones or other objects on private residences, creating disturbing noises such as firearms or fireworks, the usage of car alarms or any other unaccepted behavior in public spaces which damage the public’s order and morals, or which ignores the environment, are punished with fines or up to two years in prison”.

The Tirana and Kavaja police have taken the fight against noise pollution very seriously. They have promised to stabilize and improve the situation within 60 days.
