The Polican arm factory was the factor that led to the creation of the
Polican town. All residents were related to the arm and ammunition
production factory during the communist regime.
But after 1990, the plant created thousands of unemployed, most of whom immigrated. There are currently 2000 unemployed people in the town of 10,000 residents.
Built in the 60s, Polican produced large amounts of ammunition in 1967. The plant started to dismantle and destroy the same ammunition after 1997.
In 1986 the plant had 3200 workers, and almost all of them were unemployed later. Only 400 of them worked for some dismantling programs.
The plant has 100 employees today, 80 of whom are in the administration and only 22 work in the production line. All implants are in very bad conditions, while the plant still has the lines of production. The Polican plant is one of the industries that were inherited by the current government and that is degrading.
