Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said today in a press conference that “the state crime of murders in the then socialist opposition protest of January 21, 2011, has been covered by dust for more than a decade”.
He added that the Strasbourg Court has issued a significant and clear decision regarding the case, highlighting two violations: the murders and the protraction of the justice proces for the murders.
“The Prosecutor’s Office of Tirana has mocked with contempt the Constitution and the law, therefore it is time for the new justice to react.
“The order came from the top, but on the other hand, the Court also points to the crime of obstruction of justice. It is clear in the decision that the executive authorities have prevented the disclosure of this crime in the most brutal way”, said Rama.
The Prime Minister stopped at the new justice, which according to him, cannot have a solid basis if the killing of four protesters in the square continues to remain without a perpetrator.
“I am firmly convinced that there is no force that can prevent the final disclosure of the state crime of January 21, but it can continue to be delayed. For this reason, I am here, expressing these considerations, because it is important for the morality of the justice system”, he added.
