Cannabis plantations have officially become one more conflict between
the main parties of the ruling coalition, the Socialists and the
Socialist Movement for Integration.
“We discussed this matter yesterday, for its second or third time. There is an order from the Prime Minister about it, and we are planning a strategy in order to prevent cannabis plantation. Yesterday we discussed a bit more, with higher tones”, declared Justice Minister Ylli Manjani on Top Channel’s “Top Story”.
This sudden comment of the Justice Minister on Top Channel had an immediate reaction this Friday by the Socialist minister least preferred by the SMI, the Minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri.
“I don’t want to talk about comments, especially when made by an old colleague of mine, whose duty, just like mine, is to give his best on his job. Our job is then judged by the Prime Minister and our citizens”, Minister Tahiri said.
The tone used by both Ministers shows that the climate inside the ruling coalition is as cold as the current January weather. Socialists say they have invited the SMI to run with them in the next elections, but they have received no answer yet.
“Where is this invitation? The only invitation we have received so far, was for a wedding. The elections of 2013 were won by the coalition of the united left parties. We won them, together with Ben Blushi (Libra) and without Shpetim Idrizi (PJIU)”, Manjani said.
The Justice Minister commented about an event that took place last July, before the voting of the Justice Reform. He said that if Rama would have collected the so-called “patriotic” votes from the right center, his government would have been brought down.
This is the climate through which ruling coalition party leaders met this Friday, a meeting that usually takes place on Wednesdays.
The SMI leader and Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, was late to the meeting with PM Rama, which was to be held at his office, and been no official statement has been released so far about what they discussed.
However, this meeting happened just a few hours after the heated political comments stated by the Justice Minister on Top Channel’s “Top Story”.
This means that the political winter might take longer than the natural one this year. It may last until April, when the SMI will announce who they are going to be allied with for the next elections.
