Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama today repeated the criticism of the EU’s approach to the Western Balkans region regarding economic support.

At the meeting in Skopje of the six leaders of the countries of the Western Balkans, representatives of the EU were present, as well as James O’Brien, assistant secretary of state of the USA.

“We would be much ahead if the EU was more serious about regional integration. It is important to understand that integration is a big challenge. One of the neighboring countries receives from the EU about 4000 euro per citizen, while here we receive about 130 per citizen,” said Rama, adding that “countries should forget the color of the flags of strife. “Our flag should be that of the EU”.

“When the EU is in good shape we are in bad shape. When we are in good form they are in bad form. We should not be remembered for the quarrels between us, but for those good things that help businesses and our citizens. Bosnia must ratify the agreement, so the citizens of Kosovo will move freely”, said Rama.

Prime Minister Rama also had a proposal. “We need establish a political circle like we had last night, to meet regularly. We are from the Balkans, if you don’t come to sit us down at a table together, we can spoil things. To have a clear message from the leaders that we must forget history, the most important color must be that of the EU flag.”
