The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, held a meeting in Korce on the
teacher’s day, the 130th anniversary of the foundation of the first
school in Albanian language.

Rama said that the education reform initiated by his party has the only purpose to serve to younger generations, for the first time after a quarter century.

“It is one of the most difficult reforms, the type that governments keep postponing, hoping to leave it to the next government. It affects many interests and may hurt and trouble many souls. But its fruits will be seen in the next generation, not in the next elections”, Rama said.

As for the current situation of education, Rama said that it is affected by the judiciary. The political parties, Rama said, must apologize for allowing a destruction of the judiciary through the years.

“I need to apologize on behalf of political parties, to everyone who gave their lives for an Albania where justice is just. I apologize for today’s ugly situation of courts. I promise that we will not leave them like that”, Rama said.
