Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted after the statements of President Ilir Meta, who spoke in harsh tones today warning that he will act before the April 25 elections, in defense of the free vote.
Through a Twitter post, Rama writes that every vote against the SMI is against justice, and every vote for the DP is a vote for Meta and Berisha, referring respectively to the former leader of the SMI, current president Ilir Meta, and the former leader of the Democratic Party, former prime minister Sali Berisha.
As for the current leader of the Democratic Party, Basha, Rama says that he “just eats porridge” meaning that the does nothing of any importance.
“Every time Ilir Meta comes out, he shouts, insults, and so many times makes it clear that the election of April 25 is a choice between him and the Justice; every vote for the SMI is a vote against Justice and every vote for the DP is a vote for Ilir and Sali; Luli just eats porridge”, wrote Rama, referring lastly to the current opposition DP head, Lulzim Basha.
Today, Meta appeared at a press conference where he said that he will do everything to guarantee free and fair elections on the 25th April.
“Do you think that the President should react after the elections? You are very wrong. I will react far ahead. We suffered it once in 2017, waiting for others to guarantee for us free and fair elections. Now we will react beforehand. If someone is worried that the president was irritated after people were beaten in his presence, we will not reveal the names because we do not want to incite the irritated people, but there is nothing that prevents the president from acting”, said Meta.
