The Central Headquarter of the Commission that is leading the massive
operation against the electricity theft, led by Prime Minister Edi Rama,
held a meeting before Arben Seferi gave his resignation as Director of
the Albanian Electricity Distribution Operator.
Sources from the Ministry of Energy and Industry confirmed for Top Channel that Rama asked Seferi to resign. The Prime Minister criticized the leadership of the company and said that the results are far from the government’s objective, and that they are not interested in simply having higher results than when the Democratic Party was in power.
Rama declared that “hitting corruption inside the company, even the arrests of two regional directors, are not enough while zero tolerance is demanded”.
The Prime Minister also underlined that despite the results, the company has not done enough to increase the quality of human service in serving the client. Rama was careful to make a distinction between both governments, considering the first one as the time of theft, not as the time of management for an important company.
Rama’s last message during the meeting of the Central Headquarter against electricity theft was ending the abuses. Rama declared that there will be no amnesty for unpaid bills and that the government will not back off even if this operation creates electoral costs.
