More than 500,000 Albanians who live and work in Italy can smile today at the end of a thirty-odd year long odyssey, Prime Minister Edi Rama said today, after the signing of the agreement between Albania and Italy on the recognition of social security contributions between the two countries.
Through a video message on social networks, the prime minister expresses pride in the achievements of the socialist government in support of Albanian immigrants and expats.
“They enjoy the right to recognition of their work and sweat in 16 states, where as pensioners they will be rewarded in the pensions according to the contributions they have poured from their hard work.”
“Today is a beautiful day for Albanian families in Italy. Their honest work, their successive years at work to build a family economy with hard work, from today they will be returned to their pensions, each according to what is due to them”, said the Prime Minister on the recognition of pensions with Italy.
“Today is the day to thank all those who listened to us and supported us from the friendly Italian side, in particular the Italian Senator Tommaso Nannicini, the former Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luigi di Maio, and the Italian ambassador in Tirana, Fabrizio Bucci”, added PM Rama.
