After several violent incidents among young people in Albanian schools, Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke today about the plan of measures the government is taking to guarantee security in schools.
In a meeting with the parents of students at the “Sami Frashëri” school, Rama said that by the end of December an agreement will be signed for a new security camera system in school premises. Rama said that it is a system tested and proven in the United Arab Emirates that allows the entire learning process and movements within the walls of the schoolyard to be monitored.
According to him, with the new system, every parent can have access to see their child, class, activity, and teacher at any time, by making a request to the school.
“We have a project that we have started a year ago and are now finalizing it and by the end of December we will sign the agreement, it is about a new school security system. A system tested and proven best in the United Arab Emirates that enables the monitoring of the entire learning process within the walls of the school yard with cameras. We will combine this with digital checks of all entrances and exits for any type of metal devices or phones that children may have in their pockets and bags, so that we can enforce the rule of banning cell phones in schools.”
