For Prime Minister Rama, the 1 billion USD program will double the economic growth. The purpose is to go beyond 6%.

Rama spoke during the presentation of governmment’s program to build 43 new schools for Tirana within the next few years.

“Very soon our communities will have dozens of newly inaugurated schools. This program will make a huge economic and social impact on Tirana and Albania, doubling our economic growth. The growth we have today is significantly better than the situation we found when we first took power, although it cannot be felt yet by average families. By then, the annual growth was between 0 and 1%. Today it is 3.5% and we are aiming to push it above 6%. If we go beyond 5%, this growth will affect every economic class”, Rama said.

The Prime Minister added that this program would allow them in a very short time to realize works that would have been impossible with the limited government budget.

“This will boost our economy and trust. What is happening today with the Tirana Municipality is just a taste of what will become throughout Albania. There will be huge social, economic and infrastructure transformations, through an intensive cooperation between businesses and banks, to build within a few years works that would take an investment budget of 20 years. And the budget will pay for this through 20 years. There are 170 schools on the list of the Ministry of Education which need to be rebuilt. The list will become reality with this program”, Rama said.

32 new elementary/secondary schools will be built in Tirana only, and 11 high-schools, starting from the newly populated areas far from the city center.
