The Albanian Prime Minister showed the mechanism through which clients will liquidate their unpaid electricity bills.
The scheme is valid only for families that have due payments, and the deadline is February 28th 2015.
“We are in the second phase of the operation. Today enters in effect an encouraging mechanism for making all the payments. The deadline is February 28th. The families that have debts may pay it by February 28th and have 80% of the delay fees off. This is not a pardoning of debts, but a benefit for both parties. The company takes its money back and consumers have their delay fees 80% off”, Rama declared.
The scheme has some criteria that need to be respected, or the energy will be cut again.
“Those who are in debt must sign an agreement to pay through installments, every month and not less than 2500 ALL, to pay their debt. The delay fee will not raise for as long as the consumers pay a full installment. Failure to pay this will cause an interruption of the power supply”.
The scheme offers facilities for the categories in need and that have been protected so far by the 300 KW price limit, and that from January 1st they will have a compensation.
“Families on social welfare, the disabled and retired people, everyone who was protected so far by the 300 KW limit, from January will take a compensation and the value of the monthly installment will be no smaller than 1000 ALL per month. The energy will not be brought back if the respective installment is not paid”, Rama declared.
The Prime Minister explained that this is not about amnesty, but about an encouraging scheme that will take the energy system off the deep crisis it is facing now.
