The Deputy Prime Minister of the European Parliament, Gianni Pitella,
met with the Albanian Prime Minister in Tirana, Edi Rama, on the second
day of his visit in Tirana.
Pitella valued the work made by the government so far.
“I am here to reconfirm my historic friendship with Edi Rama and the Albanian people, and to express my evaluation and admiration for the work that Edi Rama is pushing forward a Prime Minister in the fight against criminality, corruption, the public administration reform and the administrative division, which is historic in the Albanian territory. I wish that the European Union will give its approval for the candidate status in June. I also want to make an appeal to the opposition forces in Albania, because the European Integration objective is not part of only one political force or of the government, but also of everyone who fights for modernizing the country”, Pitella declared.
“We shared our opinions regarding Albania’s integration progress in the EU, and also about the steps taken by the Albanian government, and certainly, also for reinforcing the cooperation of the European Socialist Party with the group of European Parliament Members, and Social Democrats”, Rama declared.
Top Channel asked Mr.Pitella of how important is the administrative reform for Albania, from the European point of view, which has been boycotted so far by the opposition.
“This is an important reform, because it will decide the efficiency of the public structure in our country. I think that the opposition is making a mistake by not participating in the discussions for this issue. I hope that the opposition will change its position”, Pitella declared.
Pittella continued his tour with the Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, with whom he discussed about Albania’s EU integration.
