16 persons were taken under police custody on charges of “digital fraud”, for stealing programs from Digitalb platform.
The action covered all areas of Tirana, the Albanian capital, and captured a great part of illegal activities that involved stolen DigitAlb programs. 16 apartments and commercial subjects have been under police surveillance last night. Other arrests are expected to happen during this action that is still on.
Tirana Police declared through a press release that the Department of Informative Crimes at the Tirana Police Headquarters executed 16 decisions of the Court of Tirana for keeping commercial subjects under surveillance and also for searching in apartments suspected of having illegal connections of broadcasting companies like “Digitalb”, “Sky”, “Nova”, etc.
During the apartment searches, the police seized 74 “Dreambox” appliances. Law offenders had cloned the verification system for illegally broadcasting TV signals. Police was able to find 27 “Dream Multimedia” appliances and 8 computer systems adopted as servers for administering the broadcasting network.
Specialist from Tirana Police department followed all procedures for charging 16 persons for “Digital Fraud”. The Police warned for a new wave of arrestments for other people suspected in piracy activities.
