The proposition of the Vice Chairman of the Media Commission, Alfred
Peza, for changing article 134 of the law for audio-visual media, has
been signed by the Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, and has been sent over
to the Commission of Media for review.
Parliament Member Peza says that this amend would resolve the stalemate of this institution, which reminds the adoption of AMA to the standards of the new law approved this spring.
“It is very important to pass this change very soon from the Parliament, so that we can unblock AMA’s failure to take a decision. On the other hand, the issue is not just about rushing things. We need to make a reform that would resolve once and for all the stalemate and the problematic in which AMA has been involved, since it is illegal and not in the right legal base that would make it work properly”, Peza declared.
The Audiovisual Media Authority has turned into a stalemate after the chairwoman of this institution, Endira Bushati, is still keeping her post, while she doesn’t have the mandate as member. There are also three members missing.
AMA has continued with the hearing session of the 20 last candidacies for the post. The civil society has proposed 64 candidates, 11 of whom will be selected.
