A Top Channel’s investigation has uncovered a new pesticide that is entering Albania illegally, “Silicon Mix”, which is imported as fertilizer for plants, but that farmers are using it largely against insects that damage cherries. A specialized lab has confirmed the fraud.
The pesticide is called “Silicon Mix”, but on the tag, it is described as if it is agricultural fertilizer. This chemical had not been registered, and it is now entering Albanian illegally. It can be found easily in Tirana’s agricultural pharmacies.
Lab specialists say they have notified the National Food Authority for the risks of this pesticide.
